CKD Galbraith Strengthens Farm And Forestry Operations

CKD Galbraith has strengthened its rural operations with key appointments in its farm sales and forestry departments.

Duncan Barrie has been made a partner strengthening CKD Galbraith's commitment to maintaining the firm's position in the vanguard of farm sales and purchases.

Having grown up on the family farm in the Borders, Duncan is steeped in agriculture. For the last five years at CKD Galbraith Duncan has been an integral part of the team at the National Farm Sales Centre in Stirling.

Duncan Barrie said:

It is very exciting to become a partner at a time when the firm is at the forefront of farm sales and farmland acquisitions across the country.

CKD Galbraith brought 132 farms to the market in the last twelve months comprising in excess of 26,000 acres of agricultural land with a total value of over 115 million.

Gordon Brown has been promoted to Senior Associate and will lead the firm's forestry teams across Scotland. Philippa Cliff, partner in charge of the forestry department, said:

We pride ourselves in offering an unrivalled breadth and quality of expertise and services across the wide-ranging sector which is experiencing strong growth. Gordon's promotion is testament to his dedication and commitment having spearheaded a number of large scale woodland regeneration and harvesting projects across the Highlands.

Gordon is also a Trustee for the award winning charity Trees for Life and a member of the Highlands and Island Forestry Forum. He said:

I have been involved in the forestry sector for almost 20 years which is one of the most vibrant industries in Scotland at present given the high value of productive forestry land and the prominence given by the Scottish Government to woodland expansion.

CKD Galbraith's forestry department currently manages over 18,000 hectares of woodland ranging from commercial plantations and conservation restoration to traditional mixed policy woodlands and offers a comprehensive forestry agency and management service.

Iain Russell, chairman of CKD Galbraith, said:

CKD Galbraith is a home-grown Scottish success story and it is of paramount importance that we continue to strengthen our partnership and recognise the effort and dedication of our talented staff. We pride ourselves in having top professionals working across their specialist fields offering a truly unrivalled service, and these promotions and appointments underline that commitment.
