The principal residence has six bedrooms, four reception rooms and four bathrooms, while there is good ancillary accommodation, including a self-contained one bedroom annex, traditionally used as a housekeeper’s apartment, plus two very pretty traditional cottages in the grounds.
The land extends to about 25 acres, including formal gardens, permanent pasture and areas of woodland, along with excellent equestrian facilities and extensive traditional outbuildings.
Sam Gibson, a partner with Galbraith in Northumberland, said: “This is a superb small country estate in an absolutely prime location on the edge of the much-admired village of Ponteland and close to both the city of Newcastle and Newcastle Airport.

“The two traditional cottages offer great potential for a variety of uses and the annexe accommodation could be maintained as a self-contained apartment or incorporated into the main house, if preferred.
“The same family has occupied the property for at least 50 years and the house would now benefit from upgrading and modernisation. This is a rare opportunity to create a very special family home to one’s own specifications in a tranquil, beautiful and highly convenient setting.”
Thought to date from the mid-18th century, Benridge Hall is Grade II listed. The house and cottages require modernisation, offering an excellent opportunity for the purchaser to secure a first-class property in a prime location.
The beautiful grounds include a former walled garden close to the house and a tennis court, requiring repair. The wider landholding offers significant flexibility for grazing horses or keeping livestock, or simply for leisure and enjoying the beautiful setting.

Benridge Hall is 2.5 miles from Ponteland, considered one of the most desirable villages in north east England, with its charming stone bridge over the River Pont, well-preserved village centre and numerous cafes, restaurants and independent shops.
The city of Newcastle is about 10 miles from Benridge Hall while Newcastle International Airport is just four miles.
Benridge Hall, Northumberland, is for sale through joint selling agents Galbraith and Knight Frank for offers in excess of £2,000,000.
Historical Note
Benridge Hall formed part of the Kirkley estate owned by the Ogle family; notable tenants include William Blackett who lived there with his family in the 1830’s. The Blackett’s were industrialists and considered one of the most influential families in Newcastle. William Blackett was County Treasurer, the chief financial officer for Northumberland. In the 1960’s Benridge Hall became the family home of Major James Gresley McGowan, who led the 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. A portrait of Major McGowan hangs in the National Portrait Gallery.
