Susan Guthrie, an associate with Galbraith in Kelso, said: “The new year has started very well with a good level of viewings, keen interest from potential purchasers and several offers made on properties. The viewers we are seeing at present are well-motivated buyers in a position to proceed.
The combination of a good supply of available homes, coupled with strong demand and serious buyers, indicates a positive sales season ahead.”
The firm’s Kelso office reports sales up by 3% in 2025 compared with 2024, with village homes and equestrian properties proving the most sought-after by buyers. The ‘property hot-spot’ areas are in parts of Melrose, Kelso and Jedburgh, but the region as a whole offers relatively consistent pricing, with less noticeable price variation between the most expensive and least expensive postcodes, compared with other regions of Scotland, where there are marked variations.
Susan Guthrie continued: “The Scottish Borders offers a superb lifestyle across the whole of the region, with beautiful natural scenery, historic market towns and a relaxed pace of life. Well-located rural homes are in demand because they offer the kind of lifestyle that people today are seeking, with great access to outdoor sports and the natural environment, but all within easy reach of local amenities.”
Currently on the market through Galbraith in the Borders are properties including:
