The appointments reflect Galbraith’s continued investment in expanding its rural services to support a growing client portfolio across the Borders and the South of Scotland.
Ailsa undertakes rural consultancy and management work south of Edinburgh and throughout the Scottish Borders, while continuing to work closely with Galbraith’s Edinburgh team to provide clients with a comprehensive rural service across the region.
Ailsa joined Galbraith in 2018 after graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a first-class honours degree in Law and going on to qualify as a Chartered Rural Surveyor in 2020. Ailsa brings with her a wealth of experience in complex rural consultancy, strategic estate planning, diversification, and valuation work.
Originally from the Borders, Beth grew up on her family’s beef and sheep farm and remains actively involved in livestock management during busy periods such as lambing and shearing. She joined Galbraith in April this year, having trained as a farm business consultant in Northumberland. She is a graduate of Newcastle University with a first-class degree in Agri-Business Management and has also worked in New Zealand.
Beth focuses both on livestock enterprises as well as supporting clients operating within the arable sector and is working across a broad range of client projects including practical farm management, budgeting and cashflow planning, Basic Payment Scheme submissions, agri-environment schemes in both Scotland and England, contract farming agreements and capital grant funding applications.
Together, Beth and Ailsa now provide clients in the Scottish Borders with access to a full spectrum of agricultural and rural consultancy services from the firm’s Kelso office.
Martin Rennie, a Director at the firm and Head of Farm Business Consultancy, said: “The appointments of Beth and Ailsa demonstrate our continued commitment to strengthening our agricultural and rural consultancy services in the Scottish Borders. Their expertise combined with local knowledge and practical experience will further enhance the support we provide to farming and rural business clients across the region.”
Ailsa Baird, Rural Associate, said: “I am delighted to have moved to the Scottish Borders, joining our growing multi-disciplined Kelso office. I’m excited to deliver a comprehensive range of consultancy services right across the Borders”.
Beth Logan, agricultural consultant at Galbraith in Kelso, said: “It is great to return home to the Scottish Borders and join Galbraith at such an exciting time for the business. Having grown up in the industry, I understand the challenges and opportunities facing farming businesses and I look forward to supporting clients across the region.”
The strengthened team in Kelso marks another step in Galbraith’s ongoing expansion of its rural services, with dedicated agricultural consultancy and rural management teams across Scotland and the North of England managing and providing advice on farm, forestry and woodland, land and estate interests totalling over 4.5 million acres.
