The Dinnet and Kinord Estate Forestry Day took place in bright sunshine and was attended by an enthusiastic group of S3 pupils from Aboyne Academy. Organised in collaboration with the Estate, Galbraith, and the school’s science department, the event has become a popular annual fixture in the local calendar. The day showcased woodland and environmental management in this beautiful part of Deeside through a range of forestry demonstrations and practical activities.
The day showcased woodland and environmental management in this beautiful part of Deeside through a range of forestry demonstrations and practical activities. Attendees had the opportunity to plant native trees, monitor freshwater invertebrates, and see a working timber harvester in action. They were also treated to a masterclass in landscape design.
Thanks go to Brian Cook Forestry and the Loch Kinord National Nature Reserve team at NatureScot for all their help and support throughout the day. Thanks also to Cheviot Trees for generously providing the trees.
