Statement on SDLT Changes Announced for England - Scottish Response

Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng has announced a change to the bands for stamp duty for England and Northern Ireland, with no stamp duty payable on the sale of properties valued at up to £250,000 (a change from the previous starting point of £125,000). In addition, first-time buyers will be exempt from paying tax on properties valued at up to £425,000.
