Parkfergus Farm is an excellent livestock and arable farm situated in some of the best agricultural land found on the Kintyre Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. Machrihanish Bay and the Atlantic Coast lie only a short distance to the west. The small settlement of Drumlemble lies a short distance away from the farm on the B842 where a local primary school and Post Office can be found whilst Campbeltown with its larger range of shops, schools and professional services lies 2 miles to the east. Campbeltown Airport is situated just to the north of the farm and offers regular flights to Glasgow. Glasgow is also accessible via the A83 from Campbeltown and is 140 miles distant, by road.
The agricultural nature of the area ensures it is well provided for by agricultural merchants and contractors and machinery dealerships, and there are regular haulage routes to the livestock markets in, Stirling, Oban and Dalmally.
Parkfergus is a well equipped livestock and arable farm situated to the south of Machrihanish Aerodrome on the Mull of Kintyre. The land which is flat and well drained ranges from sand to sandy loam categorised as principally Grade 4.1 with small areas of Grade 3 land by the James Hutton Institute. The land is well suited to growing good
crops of grass and cereals and the majority of the pasture has been reseeded on a rotational basis regularly over the past few years. All of
the land has benefited from regular applications of farmyard manure generated on the farm from the cattle enterprise on the holding and
the farm has been regularly soil tested, with lime being applied through the use of soil and field zoning analysis.
Parkfergus Farmhouse is of traditional stone construction under a slate roof and sits adjacent to the steading and has been substantially renovated in recent years to form a comfortable south facing family home. The house has well proportioned accommodation over two floors with many period features and spacious public rooms. To the rear of the farmhouse is a traditional steading range built around a courtyard with a range of modern steel portal frame buildings, which
support the existing cattle fattening enterprise run on the farm.
