Westfield of Pitlochie is a delightful country house situated in a private position with a spectacular outlook over the rolling countryside with the Lomond Hills beyond. The property lies about 10.5 miles south east of Perth, close to the village of Gateside some 34 miles north of Edinburgh, in an area of open countryside overlooking the summits of West and East Lomond. The property benefits from excellent access links onto the A91 which links St Andrews to Stirling, and provides access to the M90 with Perth to the north and Edinburgh to the south. To the East, St Andrews, one of Scotlands most attractive towns, has a wide range of amenities and entertainment facilities.
Nearby, the former market town of Cupar provides an excellent range of amenities and hosts a bustling monthly Farmers Market, with local produce on display. There are number of smaller settlements such as Strathmiglo, Milnathort, Auchtermuchty and Falkland, with its historic palace, which cater for day to day goods and services.
Cupar and Perth have excellent communications with mainline railway stations and the network of major roads lead to the major cities of Scotland, all lying within approximately one hours drive. From Edinburgh airport there are regular shuttle flights to London and departures to various European countries. Dundee is about 25 miles to the north east and also has its own airport which serves London, Birmingham and Belfast.
The area is home to an array of wildlife and, for the outdoor enthusiast, offers access to a wide range of recreational pursuits including walking, cycling, riding and golf with many highly rated courses within easy reach including Ladybank, Lundin Links, Elie and the many fine courses in and around St. Andrews where the Old Course plays regular host to the British Open. Challenging shooting and fishing may be taken locally.
The Fife Hunt is the most northerly pack of foxhounds in the UK and there are many opportunities for riding with pony clubs for the younger enthusiast. There is racing and polo at Scone, outside Perth, which is also the venue for the annual Scottish Game Fair. The pretty fishing villages of Fifes quaint East Neuk such as Anstruther, Pittneweem, Elie and Crail are just a short drive to the south. In terms of days out the wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills are close at hand along with a number of popular National Trust for Scotland properties including Kellie Castle, Falkland Palace and Hill of Tarvit. Fifes beautiful and varied coastline includes several good sandy beaches such as Tentsmuir, St. Andrews and Elie.
State schooling is available locally at Gateside for primary with secondary in Cupar. The area is well catered for in terms of private schooling with St. Leonards in St. Andrews, the High School of Dundee, Dollar Academy, Dollar. There is an exceptional further selection of private schools in Perthshire, including nearby Strathallan, Kilgraston and Craigclowan, with Glenalmond to the west of Perth and Ardvreck in Crieff.
