Faraway Farm is a charming country house situated in an outstanding rural position, with a wonderful outlook over the surrounding Stirlingshire countryside. The small village of Arnprior is just over a mile from the property and has a nursery school. The popular village of Kippen (3 miles) offers an excellent range of local amenities including a primary school, a convenience store, a post office, a delicatessen, two gastro pubs, a tennis club and a playgroup. The historic city of Stirling (about 12 miles) offers a full range of amenities including shopping, leisure and business facilities with regular mainline rail connections to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Glasgow, Scotland's largest city is only 28 miles away and Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, is only about an hour’s drive away.

Balfron (8 miles) has a highly regarded state secondary school, whilst independent private schooling can be found at Dollar Academy (26 miles), with a wider selection located in Glasgow, Edinburgh and nearby Perthshire.

The City of Stirling has an abundance of national and independent retailers. There are a number of supermarkets including Waitrose and Sainsburys. The city also has a University with a sports complex which contains a near Olympic size swimming pool which is open to the public. DESCRIPTION

Faraway Farm is a most attractive late 18th Century country house with outbuildings and full equestrian facilities. Historically we understand that this property may have been referred to as Hornhawick and then Nether Mains of Cardross. The property may have been renamed to Faraway Farm when the access was changed in 1863. It is thought that Robert the Bruce's final residence may have been located nearby.

The property is situated approximately 4 miles to the north west of Kippen, some 14 miles west of Stirling in a secluded position to the north of the River Forth and has the most attractive outlook across the surrounding open fields and countryside towards Arnprior, Kippen and the distant hills beyond. The property is accessed via a shared private road which leads from the A811. The driveway has a timber field gate with an embankment of lawn to either side and a white washed stone entrance wall with low pillars. The gravel driveway sweeps around the property providing parking for several vehicles. There is a separate access for the stables with a defined parking area for horse boxes or agricultural vehicles away from the main house. The farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings are situated in a group centrally within the holding.

The farmhouse itself is double storey with a white washed painted render under a slate roof. The property has been a much loved family home for many years and has been adapted and extended in recent years to provide a most practical layout for modern day family life. Of particular note is the central dining room which sits in the heart of the home, with a slate floor, a generous multifuel stove and a double aspect; this is very much a room for entertaining with much character.
