The Woodlands sits in a superb position close to Loch Voil and it is surrounded by outstanding countryside and views. Balquhidder also lies on route of the coast to coast walk from Oban to St Andrews which comes over the hills to the north from Glen Dochart. Balquhidder has an active village horse riding association which makes full use of the great variety of riding trails and terrain close by. The village has a strong and active community with many associations and activities for all ages. The village is also host to Balquhidder Bike Fest each year which has three main cycle challenges and family fun and activities. The village hall is also host to a variety of social activities including badminton, yoga and pilates classes, an arts programme and choir practice.

Balquhidder is located in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the Trossachs are renowned as one of Scotland's most rugged and inspiring areas and provide something for everyone, whether that is adventure, exploring, relaxing, nature or history. The Trossachs offer some of the most stunning scenery with breathtaking mountains and glens and the vast tranquil beauty of Loch Lomond. Balquhidder and the surrounding area offers some of the most diverse and interesting wildlife in the country. Callander is the closest town, which is a bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith, near Stirling, and is often described as the gateway to the highlands. Many shops and services are available including The McLaren leisure centre with a 20m pool, climbing wall & sports club. Every Autumn, Callander hosts The Callander Jazz & Blues Festival bringing many performers to the town. The town offers banks, a post office, petrol station, supermarkets, restaurants, tea rooms, doctors, dentists, library, chemist and a variety of retail shopping. Callander is also home to its own golf course, which consists of wooded parkland with views to the foothills of the highlands. Within beautiful surroundings, the challenging 15th is one of the most famous par 3s in Scotland and the course has some excellent reviews from across the world.

There are a number of popular walks in the area for visitors to explore. The beautiful Bracklinn Falls and the River Keltie have mesmerised people for generations, to the west footpaths and cycle tracks follow the old Callander to Oban railway, and from the summit of Callander Crags there are spectacular sweeping views over the town of Callander and beyond to Stirling and the Forth Estuary.

Stirling, the closest city is well placed for road, rail and bus connections to all the major cities in Scotland. The pivot of the motorway network is only three miles to the west of Stirling, giving quick access to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports are within easy reach. There is a wide range of private schools within 40 miles of Callander, including Beaconhurst at Bridge of Allan, Dollar Academy, Strathallan, Morrison's Academy, Ardvreck, Glenalmond and Kilgraston (girls only). Stirling University is located in Bridge of Allan. DESCRIPTION
The Woodlands, believed to date from the 1700's is a charming country cottage with an abundance of character features. The Woodlands Gaelic name Tigh-na-Fhaidreach, the Hill/House of the Fair, as mentioned in the book The Braes O Balquhidder was written in the house by Elizabeth Beauchamp and it is also understood the Bloomery Mound was on this same site.

The rear vestibule with a slate floor leads to a utility with a slate floor and shelving. The country style kitchen has a selection of wall and base units, a tiled floor and a Belfast sink with a granite work surface. There are integrated appliance including a Hot Point electric double oven and a Candy electric induction hob. The naturally bright sitting room with a double aspect benefits from an open outlook onto the gardens and a French window onto the terrace.
