The popular conservation village of Dunning lies in a highly scenic position in the county of Perthshire. Dunning is a thriving community together with offering good day to day facilities including Post Office with grocery shop, sought after primary school, church, hotel, inn, 9 hole golf course, bowling club and tennis courts.
Auchterarder, lying approximately 5 miles to the west, offers more extensive facilities including a secondary school, medical centre, cottage hospital, supermarket, butchers, well stocked ironmonger and other independent and specialist retailers. The world renowned Gleneagles Hotel, with three championship golf courses, restaurants, swimming pool, shooting school, equestrian centre and spa, lies adjacent to Auchterarder. The railway station by Gleneagles provides regular daily services north and south, together with a sleeper service to London.
Perth offers an excellent array of facilities and services which include national retailers, banks, leisure centre, cinema, theatre, concert hall and both railway and bus stations. The A9 dual carriageway lies about 2 miles west, linking to Perth and Stirling. The M9 and M90 both link to the A9 giving convenient access to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Dundee, can be reached in approximately 45 minutes by car, via the A90 and provides two universities, shopping centres, Olympia swimming pool and the V&A Museum. In addition the airport in Dundee has services to London.
Dunning is well positioned for a number of independent schools including Morrison’s Academy and Ardvreck Preparatory School, both in Crieff, Strathallan in Forgandenny, Kilgraston by Bridge of Earn, Craigclowan in Perth and Glenalmond to the north of Methven.
For the outdoor enthusiast the county of Perthshire offers a wealth of recreational activities including walks in the surrounding hills and glens. For winter sports, Glenshee lies to the north and reached in approximately an hour and half by car. There are many golf courses in the area including 18 hole courses in Auchterarder, Crieff and Perth and 9 hole courses in Dunning itself, Muthill and Comrie. Watersports can be enjoyed on Loch Earn and includes the Loch Earn Sailing Club.
