Forest Lodge is situated to the south of the historic village of Dunkeld within the county of Perthshire. The village has a thriving community, with an excellent range of amenities. There are a good selection of independent cafes, restaurants and specialist retailers, 2 dental surgeries, a medical centre, supermarket and well regarded primary school. An organic vegetable growing project and community orchard are popular and a valuable local asset.
Dunkeld Cathedral, with its stunning riverside setting, was founded in the 13th century on the site of the fallen Monastery. It is still a parish church and holds concerts during the year. Dunkeld and neighbouring Birnam have a dynamic arts and music scene with a diverse range of theatre and music staged at the Birnam Arts Centre.
The surrounding area has many beautiful walks, tracks for cyclists and fishing for anglers. The Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club is one of the most picturesque in Perthshire and other golf courses nearby include the 18-hole in Pitlochry, Blair Atholl Golf Course and Strathtay Golf Course. There are excellent transport connections close by including the A9 leading to Inverness and Perth with a train station at Birnam with destinations to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth. Secondary schooling is available at Pitlochry High School, Breadalbane Academy in Aberfeldy and Perth Grammar School.
Perth is the closest City where there are a variety of shopping facilities with retail parks and well known shops and major supermarkets as well as a range of big City amenities. Edinburgh and Glasgow are just over an hour away by car and provide a range of big City amenities including international airports.
The Ladywell plantation borders Forest Lodge to the south and there are numerous forest trails that can be be accessed directly from the property.
