Dunkeld Cathedral, with its stunning riverside setting, was founded in the 13th century on the site of the fallen monastery. It is still a parish Church and holds concerts during the year. Dunkeld and neighbouring Birnam have a dynamic arts and music scene with a diverse range of theatre and music staged at the Birnam Arts Centre. The surrounding area has many beautiful walks, tracks for cyclists and fishing for anglers. The Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club is one of the most picturesque in Perthshire and other golf courses nearby include the 18-hole in Pitlochry, Blair Atholl golf course and Strathtay golf course.

There are excellent transport connections closeby including the A9 leading to Inverness and Perth with a train station at Birnam with destinations to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth.
