Peebles is a thriving county town serving a large rural community. There are excellent services, shops, hotels, primary and secondary schools. Local recreational facilities include a sports centre, arts centre, golf courses and a swimming pool. The area is renowned for country pursuits, especially walking and cycling, in the beautiful hills and forests of Upper Tweeddale.
Edinburgh by pass and Straiton Park and Ride and Retail Park lie 20 miles north of Peebles. A regular bus service runs between Straiton and Edinburgh city centre. There are a wide variety of shops within the retail park including Sainsburys and Ikea.
Tantah House is B Listed and was built in 1884 when it formed the centre piece of a small estate. The estate was divided and the house split into two flats in 1949. The house has been maintained and sympathetically upgraded over the years and provides a fine period home which retains many original features.
Tantah House Top is accessed by stairs at the side of the house and forms the first and second floors. The first floor accommodation comprises a spacious hall off which the principle rooms are located. The property is well presented throughout and offers light and airy accommodation with high ceilings and most shutters are in working order.
The large kitchen has a purpose built central island and benefits from a flueless Esse range cooker. Further finishes include a boiling water tap and a multi-fuel stove. There is ample space for a dining table. The drawing room is a spacious and bright room with a feature bay window with fine open views.
The bedroom accommodation is predominantly on the second floor. The master bedroom suite boasts a roof lantern as well as French doors leading to a small balcony.
GARDEN AND GROUNDS
The garden and grounds at Tantah offer excellent outside space with ample parking at the front of the house. The enclosed garden at the rear includes lawn as well as an area of orchard planted with plum, greengage and apple trees. The south west facing corner of the garden has a decked terrace which is an excellent area for al fresco dining.
