Greenlaw was in the past the county town of Berwickshire and has an impressive town hall which was restored for community use in recent years. The large village green around the town hall is an attractive feature and Greenlaw has a good range of amenities including shops, health centre and a primary school. Secondary schooling is at the modern Berwickshire High School in Duns.
Greenlaw sits within attractive Borders countryside and there are many fine walks and quiet roads suitable for cycling in the area. The village is well placed for access to each of Kelso and Duns and Edinburgh is within commuting distance. Berwick upon Tweed has a station on the main east coast railway line.
