Lauderdale Drive is a quiet cul-de-sac towards the western edge of Lauder. The town’s amenities are all within comfortable walking distance and there is an attractive walk across the park behind No. 41 to Lauder’s modern and well regarded primary school.
Lauder is an attractive small Borders town located in the upland valley of the Leader Water. The town has a good range of amenities including the aforementioned primary school, church, shops, petrol station and Doctor’s surgery. Secondary schooling is at the well regarded Earlston High School.
Lauder has a large conservation area and the attractive Thirlestane Castle lies nearby. The surrounding countryside is noted for its scenic beauty and the town is generally considered to be within comfortable commuting distance of Edinburgh whilst benefiting from its Borders surrounds.
The A68, which runs through Lauder, provides good vehicular access both north to Edinburgh and south to the northeast of England. The Borders Railway, with its regular train service between Tweedbank and Edinburgh, has a station at nearby Stow - approximately 5 miles away.
