Jedburgh, which lies approximately 3 miles west of the cottage, is one of the main towns in the Scottish Borders and is popular with both residents and tourists. The town has a good range of amenities including shops, primary and secondary schools (a new school campus is currently under construction), post office, Doctor’s surgery, hotels, sporting and recreational facilities. The main tourist attractions in the town are the historic ruined Abbey, the Castle Jail and Mary Queen of Scot’s House. In addition, the surrounding countryside is noted for its scenic beauty and historic interest.

Jedburgh straddles the A68 which provides good vehicular access both north to Edinburgh and south to the northeast of England. The Borders Railway, which terminates at Tweedbank (15 miles) has a regular train service to and from Edinburgh.

DIRECTIONS
From Jedburgh follow Oxnam Road east and head uphill past the Mainetti and Starrett Factories. Continue out of Jedburgh towards Oxnam, turning left off the public road to Netherwells about 2 miles outside the town. 2 Netherwells Farm cottages is the second of the pair of semi-detached cottages which lie a short distance down this track on the right.
