Whilst the town centre with all its amenities is within walking distance of the cottage there is immediate access to the surrounding countryside with its walks and outdoor pursuits.

Selkirk has a population of around 6,000 and provides a good range of services catering for everyday needs including shops, schools, sporting and recreational facilities. A wider range of amenities are available in nearby Galashiels and Hawick.

The A7 provides a good road link between Selkirk and Edinburgh and the Borders Railway has a regular train service to Edinburgh.
