There are primary schools in nearby Swinton and Coldstream and secondary schooling is at the modern Berwickshire High School in Duns. A good range of shops, sporting and recreational facilities are found in Coldstream, Kelso, Duns and Berwick Upon Tweed.
Leitholm lies amidst fine Berwickshire countryside just over a mile from the A697 Coldstream to Edinburgh road and there is a main line Railway Station at Berwick Upon Tweed—which lies on the rugged and beautiful east coast. The countryside around Leitholm is rich in wildlife and there are a number of stately homes nearby, some of which—such as Manderston House and Paxton House—are open to the public.
