Highfield enjoys a peaceful rural location approximately one mile from the pretty Borders village of Stichill. The surrounding countryside is noted for its scenic beauty and superb opportunities for walking, cycling, horse racing, fishing and many other country pursuits. Highfield's location allows for a generally relaxing commute through countryside to the outskirts of Edinburgh (around 50 minutes), easy access to Kelso and a good road network to the other main Borders towns as well as the beautiful and rugged Berwickshire/Northumberland coast. The Borders Rail Link with Edinburgh is within comfortable driving distance.
Primary schooling is available in Ednam as well as Kelso. Secondary schooling is in Kelso where a new High School is being built. Kelso has a good selection of local shops, a Sainsbury supermarket and an excellent range of social and sporting facilities including a race course, ice rink, swimming pool and golf course. The town sits at the confluence of the River Tweed and the River Teviot and is noted for its fishing, large market square and the remains of one of the great Borders Abbeys. There are railway stations at Tweedbank/Galashiels and Berwick upon Tweed.
From Kelso take the A6089, signed Greenlaw and Stichill, and head uphill to Stichill. Travel through Stichill and on leaving the village follow the road for just over half a mile passing Stichill Forest Nursery before climbing and dropping down a fairly steep hill. Turn left at the gatehouse at the bottom of the hill (if you pass Stichill Home Farm with its small red pillar box you have gone too far) and drive up the track to Highfield which lies on your right at the top of the track.
Highfield is a tremendous modern detached family home which provides spacious and well appointed family sized accommodation. The accommodation is well appointed and the house benefits from oil fired central heating and double glazing.
