Stow is a popular and accessible Borders Village lying on the A7 about 8 miles north of Galashiels and 12 miles from Melrose (with its range of independent shops and restaurants as well as the Abbey and St Mary's Prep School). The village is well placed for commuting to Edinburgh and the main Borders towns and has benefited from the re-opening of the Waverley Rail Link between Edinburgh and Tweedbank. There is a frequent train service to Edinburgh from Stow.

The Old Stow Primary School is an attractive traditional Victorian building (dating from 1872) in an elevated positon within this popular Borders village.
