Bloomfield has a tremendous rural location approximately 3 miles west of Ancrum. The Rowans is one of a small group of houses at Bloomfield and enjoys a south easterly aspect to the front. The house has some extensive outlooks including views to Peniel Heugh and The Cheviots.
Ancrum itself is a delightful conservation village with a pretty green and a good range of amenities including a shop, popular inn, primary school and church. A wider range of amenities is found in nearby Jedburgh and the A68, which passes close to Ancrum, provides good vehicular access both north to Edinburgh and south to the northeast of England.
The Scottish Borders is a particularly attractive area and is ideal for those looking for a scenic, rural home whilst being within easy reach of Edinburgh and Scotland’s central belt. The Borders travel links with Edinburgh will be enhanced by the re-opening of the Waverley Rail Link.
Travelling south on the A68 pass through St Boswells and continue for approximately 5 miles before turning right on to the B6400, signed “Ancrum”. Drive through Ancrum, passing the village green on your left, and continue for approximately quarter of a mile after leaving the village before turning left on to a minor road. Follow this road for approximately 2 miles, passing Ancrum Craig, before you reach Bloomfield and The Rowans lies on your left.
The Rowans is an attractive, traditional detached house which was significantly extended in the 1950s. The house provides comfortable and generously proportioned accommodation and benefits from oil fired central heating. The two inter-connected attic rooms have electric heating. There is an “Esse” cooker in the kitchen.
The Rowans sits within spacious garden grounds which include lawns, shrubs and woodland. There is ample off road car parking along with a range of largely timber sheds and outbuildings - including garages and a spacious workshop (with electricity).
Adjacent to the garden is some woodland and a stock proof paddock which belong with the property and there is direct access to the paddock from the public road.
