Swinton is a picturesque and accessible conservation village lying between Duns and Coldstream amidst scenic Borders countryside. The village has a good range of amenities including the Award winning Wheatsheaf Hotel, a well regarded primary school and a church. A wider range of amenities, including shops and a fairly new high school, is found in nearby Duns.

The surrounding area has a good range of outdoor activities available including fishing, horse riding, walking and cycling. In addition, Swinton has good road links and easy access to the rugged east coast. There is a main line railway station at Berwick upon Tweed.
