Lauder is a popular and attractive small Borders town located in the upland valley of the Leader Water. The town has a good range of amenities including a modern primary school, church, shops, petrol station and doctors surgery. Secondary schooling is at the well regarded Earlston High School. Lauder has a large conservation area and the attractive Thirlestane Castle lies nearby.
