Fouledge Cottage has a scenic rural location a short distance to the south west of Skelfhill Farm, approximately 8 miles south west of Hawick. The cottage has a south easterly aspect to the front. Whilst the cottage is remote, with access being through Skelfhill Farm Steading, the A7 lies within approximately 3 miles. The cottage enjoys fine outlooks to Skelfhill and Holywell Rig and is in a tremendous walking area. The surrounding countryside is noted for its wildlife and the cottage is ideally placed for those with an interest in country pursuits. Hawick, 8 miles to the north east, is an important Borders town lying on the Teviot and provides a useful shopping centre along with primary and secondary schools and a wide variety of recreational and sporting facilities. Hawick has good road links with the other principal towns in the Borders and the A7 links Edinburgh with Carlisle.
From Hawick travel south west on the A7 for approximately 7 miles, turning left at a sign to “Priesthaugh and Skelfhill” just after crossing the River Teviot. This minor road to Skelfhill and Priesthaugh climbs over Grey Hill before descending towards Skelfhill Burn and Priesthaugh Burn. Turn right to Skelfhill approximately 3 miles from the A7 and continue through Skelfhill Farm Steading. Fouledge Cottage is the second cottage after the steading and is reached after a short climb up a farm track. The cottage lies approximately quarter of a mile past the farm steading.
Fouledge Cottage is a charming traditional detached cottage which has been extended and improved since 2005 to provide versatile and well presented family sized accommodation. The cottage has oil fired central heating, the “Grant” boiler being outside the bathroom, and there is a log burning stove in the sitting room. The cottage has an impressive dining kitchen, with direct access to external decking.
The garden lies mainly to the south and east of the cottage and is largely in grass. However, a track along the rear/north west of the cottage leads to a large detached garage/workshop (12m x 4.5m) with electricity. There is a lean-to kennel at the end of the cottage.
Fouledge Cottage has mains electricity, private water and private drainage. Oil fired central heating.
