Green Pastures is located amongst a small cluster of residential properties on a minor country road surrounded by farm land. The area lies between Kelso to the north and the Cheviot Hills to the south. The area is somewhat elevated and provides the most spectacular and far reaching views over Kelso and the Tweed Valley.
Considered by many to be the most attractive of the Borders towns Kelso is noted particularly for its fine Market Square and for the remains of one of the great Border Abbeys. The town provides a good shopping centre together with an excellent range of social and sporting facilities including golf, bowls, tennis, swimming, curling, National Hunt racing and fishing. There are new primary and secondary level schools in the town.
The surrounding countryside, especially the nearby Cheviot Hills, is renowned for its scenic beauty and provides ample opportunity for outdoor pursuits. The property is within easy reach of the Bowmont Forest, an area popular with cyclists and walkers.
Green Pastures was built in 2005. It is a timber frame bungalow and offers well appointed accommodation. The house is stylish and spacious throughout. The décor is in modern neutral tones throughout. A particularly fine feature is the generous open plan kitchen / dining room, the kitchen being fitted with an excellent range of floor and wall units. The bathrooms have been modernised and upgraded with tasteful fittings.
The annexe extension was added to the eastern gable of the house in 2007 enabling Green Pastures to be suitable for multi-generational use. The annexe has independent access as well as an interconnecting door between from the main accommodation. It could be easily incorporated into the main house if required.
In 2015 and 2016 two holiday lodges, Barn Owl Lodge and Kestrel Lodge, were created on the neighbouring site. The lodges, of continental design, offer an established business with excellent occupancy rates.
The lodges provide high quality self-catering accommodation and both properties benefit from ample outside space, a storage cupboard and hot tub. Barn Owl and Kestrel are fully insulated and have electric central heating boilers. The area is gated and includes a gravel off road parking area.
Green Pastures sits centrally in generous garden ground. The flat garden is mostly laid to lawn. With a gravel terrace to the front of the house. The garden area outside the annexe includes decking and a paved terrace.
There are a number of outbuildings including a tandem double garage, lawn mower shed, green house and 3 timber storage sheds as well as a shed housing an emergency generator. A lovely summerhouse has been a recent addition beside the annexe and provides an excellent spot for admiring the views.
The area around the lodges is mostly laid to lawn together with soft landscaping to provide year round colour and interest. There are areas of paving outside both lodges for al fresco dining. Paths lead to the hot tubs.
