Rebeg House lies in a very private location between Inverness and Beauly, on a woodland cliff top overlooking the beautiful Reelig Glen which hosts some of the finest trees in the UK. It sits near the end of a single, no through, very minor public road and enjoys stunning woodland views southwards over the Glen, towards Ben Wyvis to the north and the Affric hills to the west.The surrounding countryside comprises the mature amenity woodlands of Reelig Glen (Site of Special Scientific Interest) which hosts some upland stock farmland. The area is totally unspoilt and is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including pine marten, wild goats, red, roe and sika deer, numerous red squirrels, a great number of song birds and various raptors.There are many lovely walks in the immediate area, great bicycling, horse riding and good fishing and shooting opportunities close by, including wildfowling on the on the Beauly Firth. The charming village of Beauly is only five miles away, with a good range of shops providing all one’s daily needs. There is a railway station, a Co-op, hardware store, greengrocers, chemist, antiques shops and the renowned Campbells of Beauly, as well as a number of restaurants, a primary school and two doctor’s surgeries. Inverness, about nine miles away, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south.DESCRIPTIONRebeg House dates back to 1708 and was built by the Frasers of Reelig and is of local historical interest. It has been owned by the current family for some 25 years and is an extremely desirable and practical family house, comfortably accommodating up to 16 people, yet a very easy house to manage for smaller numbers.Rebeg was significantly renovated and modernised between 1989 and 1991 and the present owners have carried out further improvements and have added a lovely conservatory on the south wing. This sits on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the glen with stunning southerly views and ever changing scenes and colours. Regularly used for eating in and an artist studio, it is a truly unique addition to this exceptional property.The comfortable front hall with a large Clearview stove, is very welcoming and the formal reception rooms are ideal for entertaining. The kitchen, complete with Aga is well laid out and the small sitting room, which leads to the conservatory, makes the perfect snug. The north wing has been renovated recently and being effectively self-contained, is ideal as a Granny flat or holiday let.
