High Tide is in the charming hamlet of Kilmuir on the north shores of the Moray Firth and has beautiful south-facing views over the water to Nairnshire and beyond. Formerly a fishing village, Kilmuir is a single row of cottages and houses strung out along a dead-end road that follows the shoreline and is set against a backdrop of community-owned woodland. There are regular sightings of bottle-nose dolphins in the firth and from the house there is direct access across the single track road to the beach where boats can be launched.
Inverness, which is just a short drive from Kilmuir, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe. This prosperous and expanding city benefits from excellent communications and inward investment and yet, as the city has grown, it has lost none of its Highland cultural identity, seen in its strong sense of community and thriving arts scene.
High Tide is a sensitively refurbished and extended cottage, combining traditional features and contemporary design to create a stunning interior that takes advantage of the waterside setting. The semi open plan, split level accommodation has internal windows and extensive use of glass giving views to both the Firth and the gardens at the rear, extending the sense of space and filling the house with natural light. Sliding doors from both the garden room and guest suite open to sheltered sitting areas.
The current owners purchased High Tide in 2007, shortly after the completion of the refurbishment, and have carried out regular maintenance to all aspects of the property since then, including annual boiler and central heating service.
