Blacksmith’s Cottage is a charming traditional semi-detached cottage set in the popular west coast hamlet of Badachro. Lying just across the road from Badachro Bay, the cottage has beautiful views over the bay to the Gairloch Peninsula and its spectacular mountain ranges.
The west coast of Scotland is famous for its mild climate and stunning coastline with sheltered sandy beaches and island views. The unspoilt countryside and traditional communities make this area popular with those seeking a change of lifestyle or a second home and Blacksmith’s Cottage is an excellent base from which to enjoy this region. The west coast is famous for its sailing, while inland, mountains and moorlands offer spectacular scenery, hill walking, climbing and trout fishing on the hill lochs.
Gairloch is made up of all the settlements around Loch Gairloch from Red Point in the southwest, with its beautiful sandy beach, to Rua Reidh Lighthouse in the north. The village itself has a good range of amenities, including two small supermarkets, a bank, post office, petrol station, pharmacy, health centre, harbour and schooling up to secondary level. Inverness is just over an hour’s drive away and has all the facilities of a modern city including its main line railway station and airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.
Blacksmith’s Cottage has been sensitively modernised and upgraded by the current owner to create attractive and comfortable accommodation retaining many original features. Recent improvements include the installation of a wood burning stove in the sitting room, a new combi-boiler, conversion of the bathroom to a modern shower room, new internal shutters and complete redecoration. In addition, the roof is checked annually and the exterior windows have been repainted.
The cottage is currently a successful holiday let, managed through Cottages and Castles www.cottagesandcastles.com
