Lauderdale is in Tain in Easter Ross, a historic Royal Burgh lying on the southern shores of the Dornoch Firth. The house, which was designed by Andrew Maitland the architect of many notable properties in the town, is set back from the road and lies in beautiful established grounds.

Tain has a good range of shops and amenities including major supermarkets, a railway station and schooling up to secondary level. Inverness is less than an hour’s drive away and has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the South and Europe.

Tain is on the Tarbat Peninsula, a promontory lying to the north of Inverness between the Dornoch and Cromarty Firths. The area is popular for its dry climate, wonderful coastal light and fertile farmland culminating in a coastline of sheer cliffs and sandy beaches dotted with historic fishing villages. This varied landscape offers many opportunities for a wide range of rural sports and recreation, while the coastline has a series of links golf courses, the most famous of which, the Royal Dornoch Championship Course, is a short drive from the house.

The current owners purchased Lauderdale in 1981 and have improved and maintained the property to a high standard whilst preserving its impressive architectural features including pitch pine woodwork, doors and staircase; stone mullions with inset, partly stained glass windows, and the magnificent plasterwork ceiling and carved pelmets in the master bedroom. Significant work carried out includes the installation of double glazing, a new high quality kitchen, and a billiard room and garage extension.
