SITUATION
Old Dunmore lies on the edge of Newtonmore in the Cairngorms National Park. The property is in a delightful sheltered setting with beautiful, south facing elevated views over open grassland across to the River Spey and Drumochter Hills beyond.

The Cairngorms National Park was established in 2003 to protect its beautiful and unspoilt landscape and promote a balance between nature and community. With its easy access from the A9 and its setting within the Cairngorms National Park, Old Dunmore is ideally positioned to enjoy the wide range of rural pursuits available locally which include the ski and activity centres at Aonach Mor (Ben Nevis), Rothiemurchus and the Cairngorms.

Newtonmore has a good range of shops and amenities including a main line railway station and primary school, with secondary schooling available in Kingussie. Inverness, about an hour’s drive away, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.

DESCRIPTION
The current owners purchased Old Dunmore in 1992 and since then have extended and considerably upgraded the house to create a comfortable and easily managed family home retaining many original features, the most notable of which is the restored pine woodwork throughout. The work carried out includes a two storey extension to the rear, replacement hardwood windows in the sun porch, kitchen reconfiguration, the installation of two wood burning stoves, renovation of the entrance hall and stairway, underfloor heating in the front porch, the installation of a Rayburn cooker, the installation of Velux windows and flooring the attic.
