The Old Manse lies in a peaceful, south facing position on the edge of Drumnadrochit, a Highland village famous for its setting on Loch Ness in the Great Glen. Although the area is a popular destination for tourists, the surrounding countryside is unspoilt and tranquil, providing a haven for wildlife and offering excellent sporting and leisure opportunities. There are numerous way-marked walks and cycle trails, Glen Affric and Strathfarrar Nature Reserves are nearby, and the Nevis Range Ski Centre near Fort William is within easy reach.
Drumnadrochit has a useful range of amenities including shops, restaurants, a doctors’ surgery and a highly regarded primary and secondary school. Inverness, about half-an-hour’s drive away, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and Europe.
The current owners purchased The Old Manse in 2009 and have fully renovated and upgraded the property to create a beautifully presented family home, filled with natural light. Work carried out includes extensive roof repairs, rewiring, replumbing, new radiators, insulation, new plaster and woodwork, utility and cloakroom refurbishment, and a flagstone terrace to the rear of the house. In addition, a new boiler was installed last year, exterior woodwork has been painted and the interior redecorated.
The renovation has sensitively combined the original features of the house with more modern elements such as the impressive open plan dining kitchen with its french doors to the terrace and glass internal doors allowing the accommodation to flow to the reception rooms. There are four bedrooms on the first floor and the option exists, subject to the necessary consents, to take advantage of the generous roof space to create a second floor.
