Hunthill and Smiddy Cottage
Hunthill and Smiddy Cottage lie in a beautiful setting close to the traditional Highland village of Laggan in the Cairngorms National Park. Hunthill is on an elevated site set against a backdrop of mature, open woodland where the owners have created a cycle trail and viewpoints, while the ground in front of the house falls away to give far-reaching views across Upper Spey Valley. Smiddy Cottage, which is set off the driveway to Hunthill, is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and is currently a successful holiday let.
The Cairngorms National Park was established in 2003 to protect its beautiful and unspoilt landscape and promote a balance between nature and the community. The countryside is varied, from moorlands and mountains, to lush glens and beautiful lochs. There is a wide range of rural pursuits available, some of which are accessible directly from the house and include way-marked walks, hill climbing, shooting and salmon fishing. Aonach Mor (Ben Nevis), Rothiemurchus and Aviemore Ski and Activity Centres are nearby and offer recreation throughout the year and Kingussie and Newtonmore both have excellent 18 hole golf courses.
