Rodel Hotel and Harbour are standing monuments to times past. They originate from the 1780's when the then owner, Captain Alexander, sought to exploit the rich marine harvest. In the early 19th Century Rodel was used as a shooting Lodge by the Earl of Dunmore and was recorded by the renowned artist William Daniel. The history behind Rodel was further enriched in 1850 by the trial of Donald MacDonald resulting from his efforts to free his fiancée Jessie from confinement in Rodel by her father.
