Birchwood is located within the hamlet of Achmore near the west coast villages of Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh. The surrounding landscape is one of birch and heather covered hills, networked with clear water burns and rocky waterfalls where native wildlife such as pine marten, deer and red kites are regularly seen. A short drive away is the stunning coastline for which the west coast is so famous with its sheltered bays, wide sandy beaches and beautiful island views with a backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks. The region has long been a popular tourist destination due to its mild climate, unspoilt scenery and romantic history, and yet just a short distance away from the busy tourist centres, the countryside offers a haven of peace where native wildlife and flora are plentiful and breathtaking views are the norm.
Birchwood, which was built in 1995, offers comfortable family accommodation with spacious, well appointed rooms and views over the surrounding countryside. Glenview Cottage, which lies within the grounds, was built in 1997 and has been run successfully as a holiday let for the past 14 years. There is currently a limit of 44 weeks occupation on Glenview Cottage, but initial enquiries with the Planners indicate that change of use may be permitted to allow use as a granny flat.
