Newton House is a traditional single storey cottage built adjacent to the site of the original Newton Mansion House in a fine rural setting near Elvanfoot and close to the M74. There is local shopping and a primary school in Crawford with further facilities in Biggar which has a secondary school serving the area. The property is reached off the B7076 which runs adjacent to the M74 between Crawford and Moffat close to Elvanfoot. Proximity to the M74 gives fast access to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the south.
The area is known for its impressive open views of hills and forests in the upper Clyde Valley. The area is popular for hill walking, riding and mountain biking. There is good trout fishing in the river Clyde.

The house built primarily of stone and slate on an attractive site overlooking the River Clyde and set a good distance away from the M74. There is an enclosed garden around the house.
The land extends to about 7.13 acres which is mainly grazing land with areas of woodland giving a sense of the parkland surrounding the former mansion.

The accommodation is of generous size including a recently upgraded kitchen, large sitting room, two bedrooms and a modern bathroom. There is a large hallway/dining room and a utility room at the back door with a part glazed porch at the front door.

The outbuilding range stands close to the entrance driveway to the house and land. The buildings comprise part of the former stable block for the Newton house mansion and are of stone and slate construction. There is a large store room 13.82m x 5.51m with a lower range of stores in a wing about 15.9m x 4.7m set around a courtyard.
