Tara is located at the end of a private cul de sac on the southern edge of Westwood Gardens. The select group of modern houses in Westwood Gardens were built in the original grounds of Westwood House.
The location is a predominantly residential area to the west of Galashiels town centre. The nearby town of Galashiels, the commercial capital of the Borders, benefits from a broad range of shops and services including a secondary school, two major supermarkets and a wide variety of recreational and sporting facilities.
The Borders General Hospital and Scottish Borders Council headquarters are both within easy reach and the surrounding countryside, which is noted for its scenic beauty, offers excellent road links with Edinburgh and the north of England. A regular train service runs between Galashiels and Edinburgh.
Tara was built in the early 1970's to provide a well proportioned family sized bungalow with bright and adaptable accommodation. The house was then further extended to create a sitting room, master bedroom and shower room. Outside, the extension provides a west facing terrace, double car port, double garage and utility room.
Tara is surrounded by garden ground, laid predominantly to lawn and bordered by a mature hedge providing a sheltered and private outside space.
