Lynnwood House is situated up a private drive off the High Road on the northern edge of Galashiels. The area is a popular and peaceful residential area whilst being within comfortable walking distance of the railway station and town centre amenities.
Galashiels is a popular Borders town within a fairly central location within the region and benefits from a good range of shops (including 2 major supermarkets) and a wide variety of recreational and sporting facilities. There are several primary schools together with a secondary school located in the town.
The Borders General Hospital and Scottish Borders Council Headquarters are both within easy reach and the surrounding countryside, which is noted for its scenic beauty, offers superb opportunities for horse riding, walking, golfing, cycling and fishing. Galashiels has excellent road links with Edinburgh and the north of England and there is a regular train service between the town and Edinburgh.
Lynnwood is one of a number of attractive traditional houses built in Galashiels in the late 1800’s for prosperous mill owners.
The attractive Victorian villa was sensitively sub-divided to provide the current accommodation. Semi-detached Lynnwood House provides generous and well laid out family sized accommodation.
The house retains much of its original grandeur and includes the principle reception rooms and wide stairwell. Period features include a tiled floor in the entrance vestibule, fine cornice work, fireplaces and deep skirting boards.
The house is accessed via a shared driveway that leads off High Road through impressive stone pillars, which belong solely to the property. Lynnwood is shielded from High Road by mature trees and shrubs.
Gravel parking and a brick built garage are in front of the house. On the east side is a large and reasonably level garden. The private south-facing garden is laid mostly to lawn and bordered by an area of mature trees and shrubs on the eastern boundary. There is a garden pond with feature waterfall.
