Blacklee Brae sits in a picturesque rural location in the Rule Water valley approximately 1½ miles south of Bonchester Bridge.

Bonchester Bridge is a small and popular village situated in an area of great natural beauty. It has good access to the A68 near Carter Bar which provides convenient access north towards Edinburgh and south towards Newcastle. Bonchester Bridge has a pub, primary school, church and village hall. A wider range of shops and services can be found nearby in both Jedburgh and Hawick. 14 miles south of Merryknowe is Kielder Water and Forest Park, a centre for an extensive range of leisure and outdoor activities.

From Bonchester Bridge head south on the A6088. About 1 mile from the village take the right turn onto the B6357. Take the first turning on the right into Blacklee Brae. Go down the hill for 1/2 mile, turn right into Blacklee Square. Merryknowe is the house accessed from the southwest corner of the square.

Merryknowe is a traditional sandstone, mid-terraced cottage which provides versatile family sized accommodation on two floors. The cottage occupies the corner site giving dual sunny aspect to the south and west. The outlooks are far reaching over the surrounding countryside.

The cottage has an attractive garden, laid to lawn and sheltered by a mature hedge on two sides.
