Bridgend Cottage is located just outside Ashkirk close to the Ale Water. The village of Ashkirk is situated beside the A7, almost half way between Selkirk and Hawick. The village has an active assortment of community events based around the village hall. There is a pub/restaurant in the village. For sporting enthusiasts there is a golf course and restaurant at Woll and a golf driving range at nearby Synton Mains.

Both Selkirk and Hawick provide a variety of shops including supermarkets and recreational amenities as well as both primary and secondary schooling. There is also a primary school in nearby Lilliesleaf.

Bridgend Cottage is an attractive, traditional detached stone cottage with some parts believed to date from the 1700’s. It has been altered and extended over the years to provide the current accommodation. The cottage would now benefit from a degree of modernisation and upgrading.

Outside the house sits centrally in a large garden. There is a mature protective hedge on the western boundary. The house is approached by a private driveway and the grounds are well fenced with post and rails. The garden and grounds are mostly laid to lawn and interspersed with mature trees and shrubs. The River Ale runs just beyond the northern boundary of the garden.

DIRECTIONS
Heading south on the A7, just past the right turn to Ashkirk take the left turn to Synton Mains. Immediately turn left onto the Bridgend driveway. The cottage is at the end of the short drive.
