1 Castle Gardens is located in a tranquil yet very accessible situation to the north of Huntly in the county of Aberdeenshire. Located between Aberdeen to the east and Elgin to the west, Huntly is an historic town prospering during the 18th Century through the expanding linen industry. Today, amenities include primary and secondary schools, two major supermarkets, a good selection of independent shops, sporting and recreational facilities and a train station providing direct links to Aberdeen and Inverness. Aberdeen (about 42 miles) provides all of the facilities expected from a modern and prosperous city, with an excellent selection of shopping, retail parks and associated services, rail links and an airport (about 35 miles) providing regular domestic and international flights.
Aberdeenshire is renowned as being one of the sunniest and driest counties in Scotland and it has a wide range of excellent places to stay, eat and shop. The county is famed for its breathtaking scenery, long sandy beaches and wildlife and offers wonderful leisure and recreational opportunities. Nearby, the rivers Bogie and Deveron offer superb fishing whilst the area also offers ample opportunities for a wide range of game sports and country pursuits. The Nordic Ski Centre in Huntly provides training for cross country skiing and The Lecht Ski Centre, Glenshee and Aviemore are within relatively easy reach. There are many golf courses accessible within a short drive and as a popular tourist area, local attractions include The Whisky Trail, The Speyside Way, Cairngorm National Park, together with many ancient monuments, castles, buildings and villages of historical significance.
1 Castle Gardens is a delightful semi-detached cottage in a peaceful and stunning setting within the former walled garden of Castle Hotel near Huntly. It was completed in 1990 and is constructed of rendered block under a pitched slate roof. It offers well laid out accommodation over a single storey.
Lot 1 comprises 1 Castle Gardens: Accommodation is provided over a single storey. From the driveway, the front door opens into a vestibule which leads to a spacious hallway. Directly ahead is the generously sized sitting room which has an electric fire (with an open fire behind) and a large bay window overlooking the garden. From here access is gained to the sun room/dining room which is wonderfully light and has French doors out to the garden. The dining kitchen has a range of wall and floor units, integrated oven, hob and microwave and space for a fridge. There are two good sized double bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room. Outside, the properties sit within the original walled garden which includes extensive areas of lawn, various beds including a rose bed and a variety of mature trees. Stone built former stables adjoining the outside of the wall provide useful storage space in addition to a timber garage.
