Allershaw Lodge is a traditional shooting lodge built of rendered stone and blockwork under a slate roof with a south westerly aspect. It was fully refurbished in 2005 and now provides family and/or guest accommodation of a very high standard indeed. Since 2005 it has beenused as a shooting lodge for the Leadhills grouse moor. The Lodge lies about 3 miles south of the village of Elvanfoot and about 4 miles from Junction 14 on the M74. It is therefore unusually accessible for a property of its type and Glasgow Airport can be reached in less than an hour at off peak times by car. Biggar (20 miles) is the nearest town and provides excellent local shopping facilities. Dumfries (about 30 miles to the south west) has a wider range of shops including Marks and Spencer, supermarkets and retail parks. Edinburgh lies about 50 miles to the north east. Fast rail services to London and Manchester are available at Lockerbie station about 30 miles to the south.
