Ideal for the commuter, The Sheiling is a lovely property offering well presented living space in a popular and accessible village. The town of Glenrothes offers a wide range of facilities including supermarkets, shops and general amenities. To the north is the City of Dundee which is home to the V&A museum and also Scott’s Ship RRS Discovery.
Surrounding the village of Star is some particularly fine Scottish countryside with a lovely mix of farmland, woodland, hill and river. There are many highly regarded golf courses in the area, including the championship courses at Carnoustie and the Old Course at St Andrews, both of which host the British Open on a regular basis. The wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills and the pretty fishing villages of Fife’s quaint East Neuk are within comfortable driving distance. In terms of days out there are good sandy beaches at St Andrews, Tentsmuir, Kingsbarns and Elie with a number of popular National Trust for Scotland properties including Hill of Tarvit, Kellie Castle and Falkland Palace. State schooling is available locally with independent schooling provided at Dundee High School and St Leonards in St Andrews. There are railway stations in Markinch, Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Leuchars, Cupar and Dundee with Edinburgh airport about a 30 mile trip to the south.
