The nearby village of Scone is some 2 miles to the east and provides an excellent range of day to-day facilities, including butchers, bakers, two small supermarkets, post office, petrol station, doctor’s surgery, dentists, library, and pharmacist. The village boasts many sporting and recreational facilities including village hall, tennis club, football pitches and a scenic park with duck pond.

There are excellent independent schools in the area, including Ardvreck Preparatory School and Morrison’s Academy both in Crieff, Glenalmond to the north of Methven, Strathallan in Forgandenny, Craigclowan in Perth and Kilgraston in Bridge of Earn.
