The town of Glenrothes offers a wide range of facilities including supermarkets, shops and general amenities. A short distance to the east lies the ancient and historic university town of St Andrews, renowned as the home of golf with an excellent range of specialist shops and facilities. To the north-east lies Fife’s main county market town of Cupar which has a good offering of local services and a regular farmers’ market. To the north is the City of Dundee which is home to the new V&A museum and also Scott’s Ship RRS Discovery.

State schooling is available locally with independent schooling provided at Dundee High School and St Leonards in St Andrews. There are railway stations in Markinch, Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Leuchars, Cupar and Dundee with Edinburgh airport about a 30 mile trip to the south.
