Arden House is situated off a quite lane near Auchterhouse and about 10 miles north west of Dundee. The house enjoys a delightful, highly secluded setting off Old Whisky Road in beautiful mature grounds with Auchterhouse Hill largely visible to the north. Auchterhouse is well placed for access to Dundee and a number of retail parks and out of town shopping centres. There is also rapid access via the main M90 motorway network to Perth, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Stirling and Glasgow are also within comfortable driving distance.
The area offers ready access to the surrounding villages and towns of Angus and North East Fife including St Andrews and Carnoustie, as well as some particularly fine countryside. With a lovely mix of farmland, coastline, hill and river the result is a fine choice for the outdoor enthusiast with walking, cycling, riding, sailing and golf all readily available. There are excellent sandy beaches at St Andrews, Lunan Bay and St Cyrus as well as the sandy beach at Broughty Ferry. The Angus glens which include Glen Clova, Glen Isla and Glen Prosen are well within striking distance for day trips.
State primary and secondary schooling is available locally with independent schooling being provided at the High School of Dundee. There are railway stations in Dundee, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and Carnoustie with Edinburgh airport about 1 hour to the south.
The original part of Arden House was built about 50 years by an architect who is believed to have been inspired by Hong Kong’s architecture and used Feng Shui as part of the design process. The house was extended and significantly upgraded by the current owners in 2008 and now offers a comfortable family home full of charm and character and it is ideal for entertaining and modern family living. A central hallway lies at the heart of the house with doors leading off to a sitting room with full length windows on two sides and a wood burning stove.
