Situated close to Anstruther Harbour 15 East Green is an outstanding family house set in the heart of Fifes sought-after East Neuk. The village is steeped in history with a delightful mix of pretty cottages and townhouses built in the local traditional East Neuk vernacular style with crowstepped gables and red pantile roofs. A good range of local services and amenities is available in the area including an excellent range of shops, health centre and a number of churches as well as the popular Scottish Fisheries Museum. From Anstruther there is also straight-forward access to the other villages of the East Neuk including Elie, Crail, St. Monans and Pittenweem, with a more comprehensive offering of facilities being provided in the cosmopolitan university town of St. Andrews and the contrasting bustling county market town of Cupar, both of which lie about a twenty minute drive from Anstruther. In terms of city facilities, Dundee is about 22 miles to the north.
Good state schooling is available locally within the village with private schooling being provided at St. Leonards in St. Andrews and also the High School of Dundee. There are railway stations in Cupar, Leuchars, Markinch and Kirkcaldy with Edinburgh airport approximately a one hour fifteen minute drive to the south. The regional airport at Dundee also offers a range of short haul routes.
15 East Green is a lovely period house constructed of stone with a pitched slate roof finished in slate and pantile and a lovely south facing façade with crow stepped gables. The house was the birth place of Captain John Smith of the Lahloo and Min China Tea clippers. The house has been beautifully maintained and upgraded by the current owners to create a comfortable home.
The dining hall lies at the heart of the house and has a stove and stripped wooden floor and door
leading up steps to rear garden. A spacious sitting room is situated off the dining hall, which also has a stripped wooden floor and windows on two sides. The Kitchen/breakfast room with Aga, recessed lights and clothes pulley.
