Holmsdale is an outstanding Victorian house which stands in generous grounds and enjoys lovely open views, in an attractive setting about one mile from the centre of Fifes sought after county market town of Cupar. The town offers an excellent range of local facilities including a good range of shops, two primary schools, a secondary schooling, a doctors surgery, a sports centre, restaurants and pubs as well as regular farmers market. The ancient and historic university town of St. Andrews, renowned world wide as the home of golf and with a wonderful cosmopolitan mix of amenities, is about nine miles to the east, whilst the resurgent city of Dundee, already home to Scotts RSS Discovery and soon to be the location for the new Victoria & Albert museum, is a similar distance to the north-east over the Tay Bridge. Perth is about a thirty minute drive to the north-west with Edinburgh also within comfortable driving distance.
The popular town of Cupar offers ready access to the beautiful rolling countryside of North East Fife with a lovely mix of farmland, coastline, hill, wood and river all on hand. The result is home to an array of wildlife and for the outdoor enthusiast is the perfect setting for a range of recreational pursuits including walking, cycling, riding and sailing. Golfers are particularly well provided for with numerous highly rated courses nearby including Ladybank, Crail, Cupar, Elmwood, Elie, Lundin Links, Scotscraig and the many fine courses in and around St. Andrews such as The Dukes and Kingsbarns. In terms of days out, the wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills are close at hand along with several popular National Trust for Scotland properties including Hill of Tarvit outside Cupar, Kellie Castle and Falkland Palace. Fifes wonderful coastline includes several sandy beaches such as St. Andrews, Elie, Kingsbarns and Tentsmuir. The pretty fishing villages of Fifes quaint East Neuk such as Crail, Anstruther, St. Monans and Pittenweem are just a short drive to the south.
Good state primary and secondary schools are available locally within Cupar with private schooling being provided at St. Leonards in St. Andrews, the High School of Dundee and several highly regarded schools in the Perth area. There are railway stations in Cupar, Leuchars and Ladybank with Edinburgh airport about one hour to the south. The regional airport at Dundee offers a good selection of short haul flights.
