The site stands in a lovely open rural setting to the south-east of the popular village of Peat Inn which itself is about a fifteen minute drive to the south-west of St. Andrews and a similar distance to the south-east of Cupar. The renowned Peat Inn Restaurant is a top destination for foodies whilst the ancient and historic university town of St. Andrews, renowned world wide as the Home of Golf and with a wonderful cosmopolitan mix of facilities, is perhaps one of Scotland’s finest. The local county market town of Cupar also offers an excellent mix of shops, restaurants and general amenities. Less than twenty miles to the north lies the resurgent city of Dundee, already home to Scott’s RSS Discovery and soon to be the location for the new V & A museum. With its recent city status, Perth is about a forty five minute drive to the north-west with Edinburgh also well within comfortable commuting distance.

The village of Peat Inn stands in some glorious Fife countryside which is home to an array of wildlife and in terms of recreational pursuits offers great scope for the outdoor enthusiast with plentiful walking, cycling, riding and of course golf with many highly rated courses within easy reach including Elie, Crail, Lundin Links, Leven and Ladybank as well as the numerous fine courses in and around St. Andrews where the Old Course regularly hosts the British Open. Challenging shooting and fishing may be taken locally with some fine pheasant shoots nearby. The Fife Hunt is the most northerly pack of fox hounds in the UK and there are many opportunities for riding with pony clubs for the younger enthusiast. There is racing and polo at Scone outside Perth which is also the venue for the annual Scottish Game Fair. The pretty fishing villages of Fife’s quant East Neuk, such as Anstruther, Elie, Pittenweem and Crail are just a short drive to the south whilst in terms of days out the wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills are close at hand along with a number of National Trust for Scotland properties including Hill of Tarvit outside Ceres, Kellie Castle and Falkland Palace. Fife’s beautiful and varied coastline includes several good sandy beaches such as Tentsmuir, St. Andrews and Elie with the Fife Coastal Path running the length of the county’s coastline.
State schooling is available locally with private schooling being provided at St. Leonards in St. Andrews and also the High School of Dundee. There are railway stations in Cupar, Leuchars, Markinch and Ladybank with Edinburgh airport no more than forty five minutes to the south.
