The farmhouse is situated to the south of Kellie Castle Farm and adjacent to the lovely gardens and woodland policies of the famous National Trust for Scotland property Kellie Castle, which is open to the public. The house is situated about five miles to the west of Anstruther in the heart of Fife’s sought-after and picturesque East Neuk. In terms of local services and amenities both Anstruther and Pittenweem provide for all day to day requirements with an excellent range of shops, restaurants, pubs and such like. About a fifteen minute drive to the north lies St. Andrews, the ancient and historic university town renowned worldwide as the home of golf and with a wonderful cosmopolitan selection of shops and facilities. Slightly further to the north-west lies the contrasting and bustling county market town of Cupar, with a full range of amenities and services to be found in the resurgent city of Dundee to the north over the Tay bridge. Edinburgh is approximately forty-six miles to the south.
Home to a wonderful array of wildlife, the delightful picture postcard countryside and coastline around the Anstruther area is perhaps some of the finest that Fife has to offer making it the ideal setting for the outdoor enthusiast. There are railway stations in Ladybank, Leuchars and Cupar with Edinburgh airport just over an hour from the property. The regional airport at Dundee offers a good range of short-haul flights.
Good state primary and secondary schooling is available locally with highly regarded independent schooling being provided at St. Leonards in St. Andrews and also the High School of Dundee.
Kellie Castle Farmhouse is a charming house constructed of stone under a series of slate roofs and offers accommodation over two levels. The house is approached from the south by a vestibule and broad hallway, which has doors leading off to two spacious reception rooms with large windows enjoying outstanding views out over the surrounding countryside. The sitting room benefits from a stove and the dining room has an open fireplace. Situated off the hall is a bedroom and a family bathroom as well as a spacious family kitchen with corridors leading off to a utility room, two store rooms and the rear entrance.
The bedroom accommodation on the first floor comprises three bedrooms, a child’s room and a shower room.
Kellie Castle Farmhouse is approached by a shared private drive, which leads through the grounds of the neighbouring Kellie Castle to a gated entrance which leads up a gravel drive with a parking area and single car garage. From the A917 follow the signs for Kellie Castle. On entering the grounds of Kellie Castle continue up the shared drive and then take the left fork in the road.
